Shivaun Hogan is a full-time Lower Hutt artist. Shivaun has drawn and painted all her life, working mainly in oil paints. She loves the vibrancy of them and being able to keep working the paint. Over the last couple of years she has added sculpting to her art practice, using Oamaru Stone. She has plans to develop sculpting using other mediums.
The inspiration for her work comes from what she sees around her and the art deco period. In her work there are strong contrasts of shapes, colours and texture.
After working as a graphic designer for a number of years she wanted to change careers. This led to post-grad study in Museum Studies at Massey University in Palmerston North and onto managing art galleries. This was following her passion for art. She now has experience as a; curator, gallery owner, graphic designer, tutor, draughtperson, painting murals, set designing.
Over the years she has always said one day she would be an artist fulltime. That day has come. Shivaun has her studio and her art practice in painting and sculpture. The time has come to put her years of study and learning her craft into practice.
